Wellbeing is not a new idea. The ancient Stoics were practicing therapeia 2,300 years ago. 

In fact, cognitive behavioral therapy – today's leading evidence-based treatment for anxiety – is based on Stoic therapeutic practices.

When people hear the adjective 'stoic,' they often think of someone who swallows their emotions.

Stoic philosophy, however, involves cultivating healthy emotions and managing unhealthy ones.

  • They stay present with their thoughts and feelings and seek the truth about them.
  • This curiosity and self awareness sets them free.

I'M SARAH.

I’m an American in England who helps introverts speak confidently in front of a room, online, and in social situations without becoming a sweaty, blushing mess with a stress headache.

But in school, I was too shy to say anything. Seriously, I dropped out of spelling bees and all other competitions that put the spotlight on me. 

Stoicism, which is the foundation of CBT, taught me to stop running from uncomfortable feelings and to be with them instead, observing them with curiosity.

I learned to rewire my thought patterns to enjoy speaking up and sharing my ideas. To embrace a growth mindset. 

These days I believe stretching out of your comfort zone is essential to living a fulfilling, meaningful life. 

Today, introverts work with me to become more calm, confident communicators.
